Objectives
As an umbrella organisation for automotive parts manufacturers, MACPMA is comitted to the following objectives:
- Foster and maintain the development of an automotive component parts industry in the country
- Encourage and support government policies which ensure the interest of component parts manufacturers
- Provide services to members on all matters pertaining to the conduct of their business
- Establish and promote liaison between automotive assemblers and manufacturer and the component parts manufacturers
- Communicate with other Industrial/Trade Associations, Chambers of Commerce and other commercial, industrial or public bodies, whether local or foreign, and to promote measures to facilitate trade and commerce among firms engaged in automotive component parts manufacturing
- Collect, collate, analyse and disseminate information pertaining to the automotive industry
Membership
Membership in MACPMA is open to any individual, firm, company or corporation operating in Malaysia and owning a factory which manufactures automotive component parts, accessories, auxillaries, trailers, tractors, other auto-attachments and self-propelled mobile equipment.
Organisational Structure
MACPMA is governed by a constitution set out in its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The affairs of MACPMA is managed by the Executive Committee consisting of a President, two Vice-Presidents, a Honorary Secretary, an Executive Secretary, a Treasurer and five Committee members. The Executive Committee meets regularly to examine MACPMA's work and decide/approve plans of actions.
Current Activities
MACPMA is actively involved in the following areas:
- Local Content Policies
Participation in constant discussions and consultations with the government on the formulation and administration of the local content policy
- Legislation
Holding regular dialogues with government bodies and other private organisations on matters pertaining to vehicle safety, emissions, and transport regulations.
- Exports
Publicising the Malaysian automotive parts industry for promoting exports and organising trade missions.
- Regional Development
Participating in meetings and discussions of the ASEAN Automotive Federation (AAF) at the regional level on the promotion of the automotive industry in ASEAN, and advising government delegates at such meetings on matters relating to the Malaysian automotive industry.
- Customs and Tariffs
Provide advisory services to members on matters pertaining to customs and tariffs.
- Liaison with other Associations
Provide dialogues on a regular basis with other associations in the industry, namely MMVAA (Malaysia Motor Vehicle Assemblers' Association), MMTA (Malaysia Motor Traders' Association) and MASAAM (Motorcycle and Scooter Assemblers' Association of Malaysia). Dialogues are also held with MACPMA'S counterparts overseas eg the Japanese Automotive Parts Industry Association (JAPIA), Association of Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), etc.
- Trade Missions
Trade missions are also organised for MACPMA members to meet their counterparts in other countries and also to potential markets.
- Trade and Business Contact
Trade and business enquiries received by MACPMA from in-coming and out-going missions, private and public organisations in the country and overseas are disseminated to members.
- Dissemination of Information
MACPMA publishes the "MACPMA News" on a monthly basis. The newsletter provides updates on the automotive industry in Malaysia and other parts of the world. The newletter is circulated to not only members but also govemment departments and is being subscribed by foreign organisations abroad.
- Special Market Reports
Special reports on the status of the automotive and component parts industry of other countries and their market potential are compiled by MACPMA for circulation to members and other organisations.
